This past week I had the pleasure of going to the Callidae Holiday Pop-Up Shop, hosted at founder Harriet Posner’s beautiful Beverly Hills home. Both 2017 and 2018 collections were showcased, so I took the opportunity to really see and feel the incredible quality and design of these pieces. If you aren’t familiar with Callidae, here’s a little bit about them from their website:
Bridging the gap between the traditional and modern equestrian worlds, Callidae offers a fresh take on the storied equestrian lifestyle. We are inherently American — ? casual but sophisticated, active, stylish, comfortable, and capable. Our timeless pieces are also produced in America, which allows us to support American manufacturing and to closely control the quality of our garments.
I find that to be the perfect description of Callidae’s line – incredibly innovative with classic, sophisticated styling, the perfect mix of technical and traditional. I remember the first time I saw one of their Practice Shirts – a genius hybrid that gives the clean look of wearing a crisp collared shirt under a sweater, but with zero bulk and lightweight, moisture-wicking properties. Everything from Callidae is so well thought-out and I love the whimsical custom fabrics and colors from the line – I know I won’t find anything else out there like it.
The 2018 collection, “The Eyes Have It”, features luxury sweaters, jackets, breeches, and tops in a palette of black, white, grey, and a stunning custom-made color called Bloodstone. Eye motifs add a fun touch.
