First Look: 17 Hands Equestrian

A little over a year ago, I sold a bridle through Facebook to a girl named Cami, an OC native living in Las Vegas. She was doing her first overseas import so of course we got to talking about how exciting it was. We were fast friends and stayed in touch on Facebook and Instagram, and when I found out she bought out one of my favorite equestrian boutiques, I was ecstatic. You know those people you feel like you’ve known forever and have an instant connection with? That’s was how it was with Cami.

The imported horse’s name was Nigel – 17 hands high, gleaming chestnut with a big, beautiful blaze and scope to spare. He was bought as a sale project, but as fate would have it, he turned out to be the horse of a lifetime for Cami. The store was already a labor of love, but it quickly became driven by an even stronger love – the love of a horse. Thus, 17 Hands Equestrian was born.

As soon as the store (which will be open on a pop-up basis) was complete, I drove down to check it out. It is the cutest little space that feels so warm and inviting, and looks like it belongs in the pages of a Pottery Barn catalog.

Cami hand picked each brand and item to fill her store, and her choices are great. From well-known staples like The Tailored Sportsman to brands I’ve never heard of, her lineup is thoughtfully curated and sure to suit multiple tastes and budgets. I love that so many things from 17HE are limited edition and/or limited stock – it keeps things fresh and unique. I picked a few favorite brands and products to highlight below – enjoy!

G. Duftler Spur Belts : These beautiful handcrafted belts come in a multitude of limited edition colors and materials. I have the rose gold/patent pink one (shown worn in the second photo below) and it is one of my favorite belts of all time.

Dada Sport : One of my favorite brands already, this French brand offers a unique take on the equestrian classics. Their caps feature cute, subtle details that I love.

Equstar Bonnets : Equstar makes high-end, hand-made bonnets, and 17HE has some especially beautiful ones. The one below with tonal crystals and logo is my personal fave!

She also carries EquiFit, Fleeceworks, EIS, and so much more. I left the store with a sun shirt with the coolest sleeve details (it’s already sold out!) and a tub of Minty Kisses from Charleigh’s Cookies and I am so happy with my buys!

I can’t wait to keep following the journey of 17 Hands Equestrian – where supporting the business is supporting the equestrian dream.
