Horse treats are a barn staple and with so many to choose from, it can be hard to pick. The most important aspect of a treat is whether or not my horse likes it – otherwise it’s just not a treat! My mare Quinn can be picky, and I’ll admit it wasn’t love at first bite with Giddyap Girls Premium Horse Treats. But, I will note that we were at a show, and have a feeling the environment was a contributing factor to her lack of interest at first because when we got home and I tried giving her the treats again, she loved them. Now she eats these by the handful and looks forward to them after every ride, and I’m happy she likes them because they’re packed with healthy benefits.
Where Giddyap Girls treats shine is in the ingredient department. They’re made with healthy ingredients that horses love like apples, carrots, beet pulp, and oat bran, then boosted with vitamins, minerals, and best of all: live probiotics (Giddyap Girls also makes BioEZ, a probiotic digestion supplement). We all know how important gut health is for horses, so the probiotic additive is a huge plus. In addition, these treats have no added sugar, no artificial flavors or ingredients, and no wheat or gluten (cuz I guess that’s a horse thing too now). I feel great about giving these treats to my horses because of their healthy ingredients and added power of probiotics. No, they’re not adorably decorated to look like a Frappuccino or pizza, but they’re incredibly convenient, affordable, and actually have beneficial ingredients while still being a tasty treat. At $8.95 for a 19.2 oz. bag, there’s plenty to go around for the whole barn. Their clever design also allows each treat to be snapped easily into 3 pieces for training and/or stretches.
Giddyap Girls has earned its place in my tack locker. Decorated horse treats are cute and fun, but these are so practical and affordable for daily treating. My usual go-to is peppermints (which is still Quinn’s no. 1 favorite), but these are a much healthier option – it’s great to have a beneficial treat in my rotation. Thanks Giddyap Girls!
