Eq Athletica Manoonies Breeches Review

These breeches are for riding, and that’s just what they’ll do (but they’re also great for running errands and going to work in – see photo below). Eq Athletica is a small business from Canada, and their Manoonies breeches are a serious contender in the breech world. Let’s get down to business.

My barn to work look. Equestrianista Show Crew sweater, Eq Athletica breeches, Sam Edelman shoes, Dagne Dover bag.

Fit: The waistband runs a teeny bit small for the size (I got a 30) but has a fair amount of stretch and since the waistband is wide and the rise is of the mid variety, it works to my advantage. The waistband holds me in instead of cutting into my stomach and giving me a muffin top, and gives me a nice defined waist. The legs fit great and there is no bagging, bunching, or gapping. The front seams and pocket/zipper placements are seriously flattering – I got tons of compliments on these every time I wore them. They’re also fabulously comfortable to ride in. There’s no pulling and they stay put without me having to tug at them or readjust. The silicone knee patch provides a nice grip. Note: I’ve been told the waistband has been updated for the new breeches that just came out and are now completely true to size throughout.

Fabric: Super stretchy, lightweight and comfortable, but with enough structure keep things smooth and secure. The fabric has yet to pill one bit (and I’ve been washing and wearing these a lot), which is a huge plus. These breeches also keep their shape and don’t stretch out after wearing them all day.

Style: I love the flattering thigh seams, modern silicone grip, and wide waistband! Other details include subtle crystal accents on the back pockets and belt loop (they dot the i’s in “Manoonies” and “Athletica” which is ah-dorable). Zipper details on the pockets pull it all together.

Price: These breeches are $159 CAD, which is approximately $120 USD. Shipping to the US is $15 flat, bringing the total for US customers to $135, which is a great price for breeches, especially ones this nice. They are easily the nicest breeches in the price range, and I’d even buy these over Tailored Sportsman Trophy Hunters any day.

Overall: The best breech in the price range that I’ve tried. I highly recommend them – they’re a flattering, comfortable, and so far durable breech that’s a great mix of traditional and modern styling.

These breeches also happen to be fellow blogger Kaitlin Wilson/Eyes Up Darling‘s pick in my Little Breech Book!
