When I think of New York City, I picture busy streets and impossibly chic style, but most of all I think of its history. NYC is where so many began their lives in America, where dreams were born and foundations laid. In a city teeming with countless businesses and millions of people, Manhattan Saddlery has stood the test of time. In their 107th year of business, they are New York City’s only, yes only tack shop.
Manhattan Saddlery‘s history dates back to 1912, where it began as Miller’s Harness Company. They once outfitted cavalries, presidents, the Rockefellers and Jackie O…how neat is that?

MS has used their years of knowledge and expertise to create their own House Label, consisting of apparel, accessories, leather care, and belts. Their logo is SO cute and I want to put it on everything – but that’s for another time.

This blog post is about the Claremont belt. This piece is made with 1.5″ bridle leather from a 150 year old tannery and features a solid brass spur-shaped buckle. It’s a timeless design that goes with everything, and is built to last a lifetime.

My first impression when I got this belt was how sturdy it was. The leather is thick yet supple & flexible, and feels like it can take a beating. This is a belt that needs a bit of breaking in – the holes start out tight and I’ll admit it took a lot of effort to take the belt off the first few times. ????
With wear it’s conformed nicely to my body and is easy to get on and off now. This belt is highly adjustable and I can easily pair it with high waisted jeans or breeches.

Fun fact: This belt is named after New York City’s last riding stable, Claremont Riding Academy, because Manhattan Saddlery thinks it’s the last riding belt you’ll ever buy. Is it the last belt I’ll ever buy? Of course not, but that’s because I love belts and have become somewhat of a collector *hoarder*. But if you’re looking for a capsule collection-worthy belt you can wear every day that will last, yes, the Claremont belt fits the bill. It might be the last belt you ever need if you’re not a belt fanatic like me and like to keep things simple. If you are a fellow fanatic, you’ll definitely want to add this to your collection. It’s apparent that this belt is high-quality and well made, and I’ve been reaching for it more days than not. I personally love any product with a story, and the rich heritage of Manhattan Saddlery is beautifully reflected in their House Label.

At $109, the quality and classic style can’t be beat – this will forever be a timeless staple belt, and would be the perfect accessory to hand down from generation to generation.
You can also use KARINA20 to score 20% off your own Claremont Belt, which brings the price to roughly $87. It also comes in a havana brown leather with brass spur buckle, but I think the black goes with everything and has more wearability. This belt has found a permanent spot in both my riding and everyday wardrobe.
